“On the way to completing Forester Pass (13,200 feet elevation). Took time for a refreshing swim in the high lakes just before climbing the wall. Summited just before our daily thunderstorm hit. Raced for trees for the afternoon storm. … The team enjoyed a community cheese plate. Everyone contributed. The team favorite was Snickers bar and cheddar cheese with hint of parmesan–a JMT delicacy.”

Three of the hikers on this trip have young-onset Parkinson’s disease (YOPD). That means they were diagnosed before age 50. The unique challenges of YOPD can include navigating:

  • Parenthood
  • Caring for aging parents
  • Employment
  • Relationships

… all while managing Parkinson’s symptoms like:

  • Tremor
  • Muscle rigidity, including reduced facial expression
  • Slowness
  • Fatigue
  • Balance challenges
  • Cognitive challenges

The hiking opportunities Pass to Pass offers is one way our hikers with YOPD are managing their symptoms by staying active … so they can keep participating in their lives.
