The Trip 3 team started their day from Henskin Lake and stopped for lunch midday about 2.25 miles from camp.

Trip leader Brian reports:

“Decided to camp at Piped Spring to avoid the climb in and out of Basin Lake. Beautiful meadow recommended by Charley. Spring is so cold it hurts!”

Trip 8 update

Trip leader Derek reports:

“We booked it today! We’re at Reds Meadows. After 7 miles, at 11 a.m. we boarded the tram at Devils Postpile National Monument for a short ride up to Reds. We’ll camp here tonight. Some sent themselves a resupply. We’re ordering lunch at the grill, getting cold drinks from the store, charging devices, and using restrooms with soap and running water. And we have cell reception! Maybe some ice cream later after a wilderness message by the mountain yak.

“The crew is hiking fabulously! We cranked out the 7 miles in under three hours. Tomorrow is a 9-mile day downhill; should be another quick day.”
