Why raise money for Parkinson’s disease? We, the hiker team, want to increase Parkinson’s awareness and show there is hope for future medical advances. We, as hikers living with Parkinson’s, have already benefited greatly from the organizations below and by raising money we feel we can give something back.
Did you know that as many as one million Americans live with Parkinson’s disease? Approximately 60,000 Americans are diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease each year.
Our goal is to raise $20,000 for the charities below. We would like to ask you to give to the charity of your choice. Please give whatever you can, but here are some suggestions that tie our effort of 50miles in nine days to your generous donation.
- $25 donation, Friends of PassToPass
- $1 per mile = $50
- $2 per mile = $100
- $5 per mile = $250
- $10 per mile = $500
- Any amount is certainly welcomed as well
Team Fox is the grassroots community fundraising program at The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research (MJFF). MJFF accelerates high-impact science through smart risk taking and problem solving with a commitment to urgency and efficiency. I’m one of thousands of people around the globe who are turning their passions into Team Fox fundraisers to help them speed a cure for Parkinson’s. When you give today, 100 percent of Team Fox proceeds go straight to MJFF research programs.
The American Parkinson Disease Association (APDA) was founded with the dual purpose to Ease the Burden – Find the Cure for Parkinson’s disease. As the country’s largest Parkinson’s grassroots organization, APDA aims to Ease the Burden for Americans with Parkinson’s disease. APDA pursues its efforts to Find the Cure by funding Centers for Advanced Research and awarding grants to fund the most promising research toward discovering the cause(s) and finding the cure for Parkinson’s disease.
