The Trip 16 team started their hiking adventure Wednesday. Joe Dodge Lodge is the base camp for our first New Hampshire lodge-based day hiking trip. The hikes and scenery in the White Mountains promise to be spectacular. The team will complete day hikes covering 1-3 miles without llama support.
Trip leader Tam reported Wednesday evening:
“All arrived at the lodge by noon. Most bought lunch at the lodge. Absolutely beautiful weather. Trails were more challenging than expected. Typical White Mountains trail. Rocks and roots. We hiked to a beautiful waterfall and pond. Total mileage 2.4 miles.
“Joe Dodge Lodge is very nice. All agreed that this is a great location. We enjoyed a dinner of turkey, vegetarian stuffed peppers, garlic mashed potatoes, salad, and cobbler for dessert.
“After dinner, we had a fire and made s’mores while one of our participants played saxophone.”
