Trip leader Tam reported Friday evening on the last day of the inaugural White Mountains day hiking trip based at Joe Dodge Lodge.

“We woke to clear blue skies, a good breeze, and sunshine. Perfect weather for hiking. After a hardy breakfast, the group met to share their thoughts. All agreed that participating in an adventure with other people with Parkinson’s felt so supportive. Many have not had this kind of experience and were so grateful.

“We then proceeded to hike two miles out and back on the Great Gulf Trail. The trail began with crossing a suspension bridge that swayed when you were halfway across! The trail followed a beautiful, quick flowing river.

“Upon completion, we said our goodbyes, except for five of us. We wanted to challenge ourselves to a short but very steep hike to a ledge with exceptional views of Tuckermans Ravine.

“This involved climbing on small boulders using your hands as well as your feet. On the descent, there were areas where we needed to down climb by facing the rocks and look down between our feet to descend. We all gave ourselves high-fives for this accomplishment. It was very challenging, and all felt a sense of pride for what they had done.”
