The Trip 18 team successfully completed their hiking adventure on Sunday. Congratulations to all!
Trip leader Ben reported everything went well on the last day: “We did an easy hike up to Blackrock overlook and then headed our separate ways.”
According to gohikevirginia.com: “The 1.8-mile Blackrock Summit loop hike is easy to love. It’s also a plain, easy hike and one that wows with a massive field of black rocks and panoramic views.
Located in the South District of Shenandoah National Park, Blackrock Summit is one of several hikes that are a few short miles apart on Skyline Drive.”
Also from gohikevirginia.com: “Blackrock Summit is one of three easy hikes in Shenandoah National Park with an adventure component.
Blackrock Summit makes an easy hike feel surprisingly adventurous, with a massive talus slope and your choice of a 1.0-mile or 1.8-mile loop.
Take the longer route for panoramic views across the Shenandoah Valley and Massanutten Mountain, plus a short stretch of the Appalachian Trail.
It’s also a designated TRACK Trail, with a self-guided brochure and informational sign that give kids something extra to look for along the way.”
