David Baumgart and Eric Matson took 11 hikers in the west Tiger Mountain Trail on April 7th. Tiger mountain trails are one of the most popular training trails with an easy access from a freeway exit. We crossed a steep cable line trail known for Mount Rainier training hikes. David and Eric chose a route that has good elevation gain (~1,000 ft) and total distance (~ 5 miles) that everyone can enjoy and train. We hiked in light rain showers most of the day, but we were well prepared with appropriate clothing.  The highlight of the hike was crossing the 220 foot steel Murat’s Bridge across the High Point Creek gorge.

Check out the regional chapter hike page for two more upcoming hikes planned by David in April:

Sun, April 16 – Ebey’s Landing – Whidbey Island

5.7 miles,           260 ft elevation        Beach Walk

Requires the use of the Mukelteo Ferry – car pooling suggested.

Wed, April 26 –   Twin Falls – North Bend

5 miles,            600 ft elevation

We will park at the Mt. Washington Trailhead, I-90 Exit 38 and hike downhill from the John Wayne Trail to both of the Twin Falls.

Both hikes begin at 10am. Contact  David_Baumgart@hotmail.com  for more information.
