Trip leader Dan reports ” A beautiful start to the day.  Bags are packed and we are currently loading the llama girls into the trailer. We stayed at Charley ‘s Rocking R Ranch last night. We thought the weather was going to hold for us but after we went to bed, a massive thunderstorm with plenty of lightning and so much needed rain came through and lasted for several hours. Those of us who were cowboy camping had to quickly move under the shelter of the riding stable.

We are trying a new method of base camp this year that overlaps both Trip 11 and 12. Charley and llamas take in one group, then returns to the ranch for the second group several days later. Trip 12 hikes in today to Pete Lake where they will share space and meet Trip 11 for one night. Trip 11 packs up tomorrow and leaves camp to return to the trailhead with llamas. Then Charley will return for the last day of Trip 12– maximum use of llamas and a chance to hike and visit with even more PasstoPass hikers.
