Trip leader Brian reported Saturday for the Trip 14 team:
“Out of camp by 8:30 a.m.! On the trail ahead of schedule.
“Sad to leave Johnson Lake after two lovely days, but we’ll be back.
“It was a hard push but we’re at the beautiful Tamarack Lake. And it does not disappoint. I’m very proud of all 11 of this crew.
“The campsite looks across the lake at a cirque that still holds a few snow fields. We can’t think of a better place to spend the next couple days.
“And we have a collective trail name: The Magnificent Seven Dwarfs.”
Trip 2
Nadean Meyer, PasstoPass board emeritus, was at the Chinook Pass trailhead Saturday to see the Trip 2 team off. She reported:
“There was plenty of fog but it started to clear as the hikers left. This efficient team with Karin as trip leader and LaRae as assistant trip leader prepared the panniers [saddle bags] for the llamas. They also learned llama first aid, and how to put on spit masks, panniers, and saddles.
“Other hikers at the Chinook Pass Trailhead — many with children — enjoyed seeing the llamas and some got a PasstoPass talk, too.
“Lori is showing the new design for the front of the 2026 PasstoPass T-shirt. She helped design it, along with an AI boost and our designer, Ethan, at Dynamite Enterprises in Spokane, Washington.”
The Trip 2 team is hiking approximately 29 miles over 6 days from Chinook Pass to White Pass in Washington state. Their first-day itinerary calls for hiking about 5 miles and camping at Anderson Lake.
