Today’s hike was on the island of Nea Kameni just off the island coast of Santarini, Greece.
This hike was to an active volcano, no lava flow through. It was a short hike, just over 3 miles with 1,000 ft of elevation gain.
I felt good on and after the hike. No foot cramps despite a very soft trail. The knee that just had surgery was tender, just need to keep up PT and exercise.
We finished off the hike with an ocean swim to a fresh water thermal spring. Swim was short too, about 200 yds with slight ocean currents. Because these are volcanic, the heated water is full of nutrients, the mud is great for a mud bath. Thus my skin is glowing!
